A lazy doodle that ended up being used for my Critical Practice 1 group project. Our group theme was synesthesia! oooo

Color Theory (reposted)

Anthony (high saturation triadic)

Matthew Hayashida (monochrome)
Hanbin (analagous)

Grandpa and Grandma! (simultaneous contrast)

These are some of the portraits I did this term for Adam Ross's Color Theory class! I got to use the huuuge scanner in the library and I wanna take it home and sleep with it, zomg. Up until this term I was always super curious about color pencils but never had the guts to try it, but I think I'm in love. Shh, I know I definitely need some work, but I do think I'm starting to get the hang of it! It's the next step before I man up and try painting in the (far) future. I'm getting around to touching that big scanner again soon.

drawing for illustration

Sooo these were some of my favorite drawings from a series of autobiographical drawings done for Gayle Donahue's Drawing for Illustration class. The goat and the hand holding a spider were just two of the weekly homework assignments. I'm going to try to post everything in chronological orders so bear (or bare) w me!!

laaast summer

Hi guys! So I was getting grossed out at how bad my scans were and since I had my 3rd term review this summer, they look much nicer than before! But I wanted to post this up first. It was 1 out of 2 drawings I had a backup saved on my flickr done for Dana Duncan's Digital Illustration Class after my mac got stolen. I'm stupid and should have backed all my files and pron. :( moar new and not new updates asap!

alan cober

These were in-class drawings from a live model for Drawing Concepts 1 with Gayle Donahue (who is godly and amazing) last summer. They were done in the spirit of Alan Cober, who uses what Gayle calls "informational tone." You get informational tone by realllllyyyy examining your subject and develop an area of interest (i.e. face/hands, etc), and the rest of the drawing can be done much more loosely. I'm happy I already had these on my computer
let's... try again! For now I'm going to be uploading shit from terms ago if they don't kill me from the murderous odor of massive suckage. I've been spending my term off working for Subway and going to figure drawing workshops and enlisting the help of Lorrie Madden, who runs the workshops on Thursdays. It's really strange, how I didn't understand anything she tried to teach me last year because I was still stuck in the noob pit, but after a year of squirming and especially after Bob Kato's Sketching for Illustration last term, everything's starting to fall into place. My figures still need work but I feel like I've improved tremendously and despite still being in somewhat of a creative rut atm, it feels good to know I'm starting to get somewhere foundation wise. Anyways, I sorry for such useless mouth kibble. I'll update soon! :)
